Plan your removal

Confirm the wall's role before scheduling demolition.

Send photos of both sides, approximate dimensions and your renovation plan. The wall must be confirmed as non-load-bearing by an appropriately qualified professional before removal. Have electrical, plumbing and gas in the affected area disconnected by qualified trades. We agree on the wall sections, doors or trim included and debris hauling. We do not remove individual load-bearing walls, beams or columns from a building that will remain in place. Whole-house demolition is a separate DrouCo service; discuss it through our demolition services page. Hazardous-material removal is excluded.

What to discuss with DrouCo

  • Interior partitions confirmed as non-load-bearing
  • Wall length, height and exact removal boundaries
  • Agreed doors, trim, wall finishes and partition framing
  • Nearby floors, ceilings and walls to retain
  • Access, loading and hauling of accepted demolition debris

Share your town, photos and preferred timing. We’ll confirm the scope and availability for your job.

Non-Load-Bearing Interior Wall Demolition questions

Can you tell from photos whether a wall is load-bearing?

Photos help us understand the proposed work, but they do not establish a wall's structural role. Have an appropriately qualified professional confirm that the wall is non-load-bearing. DrouCo's service does not include structural design, engineering or load-bearing-wall removal.

Who handles wiring, plumbing or gas inside the wall?

Qualified trades must identify and disconnect the affected services before demolition. Utility relocation, capping and reconnection are not part of DrouCo's removal service. If an unexpected connection is found, work in that area must wait until it has been addressed.

What affects an interior-wall demolition estimate?

Wall dimensions, finish materials, framing, doors and the extent of removal determine the amount of work and debris. Stairs, carrying distance and the need to work around retained finishes also affect the estimate. Share the confirmed wall scope and any relevant project documents when requesting a quote.

Will the adjoining floor, ceiling and walls be finished afterward?

Removal can leave gaps or exposed edges where the partition met surrounding surfaces. Patching, new flooring, ceiling repairs, painting and installation are separate renovation work. We agree on the stopping points so your follow-on contractor knows what will remain.

What needs to be settled before demolition day?

Confirm the wall is non-load-bearing, complete qualified-trade utility disconnections and resolve any permit or project-approval requirements with the responsible contractor or local authority. Identify finishes to keep and make the agreed access available. Asbestos, lead-containing materials and other hazardous materials are excluded; suspect materials need professional assessment before disturbance.
